While some players in TaiwanÂ’s display industry are optimistic in their forecasts for the penetration rate of LED BLUs in notebook applications this year, saying that the penetration rate could hit 15%, other recent estimates are placing the penetration rate closer to 10%. According to staff from Taiwan-based LED chipmaker Epistar, with limited LED chip suppliers and Japan-based makers not greatly expanding their LED capacity this year, tight supply of LED chips will affect LED-based products.
