Samsung AceSprint launches new global Smartphone

Sprint and Samsung are the proud parents of the latest entry into the world of Smartphones: the Samsung Ace. The Samsung Ace promises global operability (180 countries) with CDMA and GSM/GPRS networks.

The Ace has a physical footprint of 4.65″ x 2.32″ x 0.46″ and weighs in at just under four ounces. The Ace features a 2.3″ display, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth technology (stereo supported), a QWERTY keyboard and a slide click wheel. Unfortunately, WiFi and GPS functionality are not in the cards with the Ace — it also incompatible with microSD cards larger than 2GB.

The device runs on the Windows Mobile 6 operating system, so expect to become familiar with mobile versions of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet Explorer.

Stylistically, the Ace mimics the design of the older Samsung Blackjack Smartphone, but takes on a taller and narrower appearance. LAPTOP Magazine notes that the build quality of the Ace is excellent and the backlit keyboard is a joy to use.

Sprint is pricing the Samsung Ace at $199.99 after a $100 MIR and two-year service agreement. The price is quite competitive in today’s field of Smartphones and should make the Ace an attractive prospect on buyer’s shopping lists.
